
When Carlos Winkow (born Carl Winckow) created the Reporter typeface for the Ingolstadt type foundry Johannes Wagner in 1938, nobody expected that its success would last for decades. But in the form of Reporter No. 2, its simplified version, the “dry-brush script” has survived several technological revolutions. It has a distinctive charm and the aura of a survivor from an era when press photographers still used flash powder.
