Originally there were only two fonts: a medium text font by the name of News Gothic
, and a lighter twin named “Lightline Gothic”, both designed by Morris Fuller Benton
. The font family was finally completed in 1958 with the addition of two bolder fonts. The space-saving, linear sans-serif’s most striking characters are the lower case a, g and t – all of which have a subtle humanist touch.
